Nashville Fashion Party Super Spreader Event

This party happened less than a mile from my house in in Nashville on 8/1/2020. Zero social distancing. No attempt to encourage people to wear masks. No masks provided.

As a Nashvillian for the past 21 years, I’ve seen this town come together to face many hardships.

The flood in 2010. The tornado we had earlier this year. And now the Covid 19 pandemic. Through all of this, we have seen our citizens show up and do their part. That’s one of the things that makes this town special.

So, to see a party with hundreds of people attending with no social distancing and no masks to speak of so close to my house is disturbing and also not in keeping with who we are when we are acting as our highest selves as Nashvillians.

We have all been staying home, wearing masks and distancing for months to slow the spread of this pandemic. Now that it is actually hitting the south very hard, we see this group of people act as if nothing is going on. The blatant disregard for the health and and wellness of human beings is maddening.

If this is a fashion party, why was no one incorporating a mask into their outfit? To me, it shows a lack of creativity to not use the mask as an accent to an outfit if you are going to a fashion party in the middle of a pandemic.

This party was heavily sponsored and branded as well. That one company that provided the tents out front could have provided branded face masks? Then, every photo from the party on Instagram features that logo. What a missed branding opportunity in the middle of a train wreck of a super spreader event.

I also don’t understand why the police and Metro Health allowed this party to happen? We are in phase two, which means no gatherings over 25 people and that everyone must wear a mask if they leave their home. Where is the enforcement? Where are the services I am being asked to pay 30 to 35% more in property taxes to pay for?
